Well...yesterday was our first day using only cloth diapers! I must say, on Sunday night when I was putting together all the diapers after they were washed, I was a little scared and wondering what I have gotten myself into. I was scared about all the extra laundry and time spent re-stuffing the liners into the diapers and scared about how they would fit Jaxon...but with one day under our belt, I can say that it's going to be okay. The little bit of a diaper rash Jaxon had cleared up within the first 2 diaper changes with cloth, and they seem to be pretty comfy for him. They stay dry as long (or maybe even longer) than disposables and nothing seems to leak out. Jax even had a explosive sounding present in his diaper this morning and it stayed within the walls of the diaper! Phew. So I guess using cloth diapers isn't that scary. It is rewarding to know that we're saving major money (our diapers cost $500 compared to a MINIMUM of $1500 per child using disposables) and helping the environment.
We decided to go with Bumgenius diapers after I did a bunch of looking around and reading reviews, etc...they seem to be very well liked diapers and so far I am liking them too. Here's a picture of Jax sporting his new style.
our sweet neighbor let me use her clothesline this afternoon since we don't have one yet!

smile & thanksgiving
This is the first picture we got of Jaxon smiling. It was actually such a long smile that I got like 10 pictures in a row of him smiling! What a cutie. It's so fun that he's now smiling. He's really starting to "talk" more now too. Having him be more interactive is so fun.
Dan was able to take some time off so we could go to Goderich for Thanksgiving. We were a bit nervous about the long drive (7 hours without many stops) with Jaxon but he did soooo great. He slept the whole time except for 2 feedings. As you can see we had a GORGEOUS view as we were driving. It couldn't have gotten much better.
Burp time at a rest stop
Thanksgiving walk with my family
Us with Dan's parents
Jaxon says he loves fall too.
We stayed at my sister Karen & Steve's house. One morning Noah, Max & I made breakfast before everyone else got up.
I thought this was a spider or something b/c I only saw it at the last second before it was about to hit me in the face. Turns out it's a floating leaf....hanging by only a spider web! So cool.

fall
Last weekend Dan went on a Wonderland trip with the youth group and on Sunday the Loberts took Jax & I to Hiawatha Park. It was such a beautiful day and we thoroughly enjoyed soaking up all the colors. Oh how we love fall! This year I have seen vibrant colors like none before.
this morning we tried giving Jaxon his first bottle. We thought it'd be fun for Dan to be able to feed him sometimes so we gave it a try. He didn't like it too much. He hasn't quite figured out how to do it yet. That's okay...there's no rush! :)
